Blob-Animals

It's been quite a while since my last post and I have to say, I've been quite busy the last two weeks. The good thing is, I've been drawing a lot for my current job. Makes me feel really happy, as I'm finally drawing and designing for a living!

I still want to share some exercises from Carla Sonheim I did a couple of days ago.

The only thing I had for this drawing was the outline, a "blob". The exercise was to transform the blob into an animal or such...

"Add drawn elements to the drips and splotches."

I really love these exercises, as they are so much fun, and can't wait to do some more!

Birds

My exercise for today was "draw 20 birds". These are my favourites out of the 20...

Turtle Power

that's how the exercise was called in the book. You had to draw to stacks of turtles, one with your dominant hand and the other one with your non-dominant hand. Was good fun and I also gave them a little bit of colour...

Which stack do you like better?

This exercise also inspired me to do some more sketches...

Just draw!

Why I started this blog?

Well, I used to draw a lot and I really loved it! Since I was a kid I drew every single day! At school I choose art as one of my major subjects and after school I definitely wanted to study something that had to do with art!
During my studies of communications design I had many lifedrawing classes and I enjoyed them a lot, but drawing started to put more pressure on me and my skills... You always had to judge what you did and I realised it became much harder for me and was not that much fun anymore.
The last couple of years I didn't draw that much, because of that.

Now I want to make drawing fun again! No pressure and no perfectionism!

Some time ago I bought these books from Carla Sonheim:

These books are amazing and contain so many great exercises and inspiration, so that they make drawing fun again!

I decided to start doing some of these drawing exercises every day and put my daily doodles, scribbles and sketches on a blog. Doing this gives me even more motivation to draw on a daily basis...
